38.1mm brazed carbide mitre cutter body after turning with carbide ring fitted pre-brazing. Cutter head stock is purchased from Pacific Machinery and Tool Steel here in Portland with the trade name "Moly-Chrome Heat Treated AISI/SAE 4142". This grade is quenched and tempered at the mill to a strong (UTS 125.000 psi, yield 105,000 psi, elongation 16%), tough yet machinable condition and usually requires no further heat treatment after machining. Brazing the carbide ring to the cutter head will provide surface hardening to the cutter head.
